Hi, I'm André van de Ven! I love underwater wildlife photography and shoot a wide range of personal work.
I started diving when I was 10 years old, and I first picked up an underwater camera when I was 14. Over the years, I've upgraded my camera rig to be able to capture the underwater world from any perspective.
I currently shoot using an Olympus TG-6 with the PT-059 underwater housing. For lighting I use a Sea&Sea YS-D2 strobe and a Kraken hydra 3500s+ LED. I use a Kraken tray and arms to hold and adjust the lights. When shooting wide angle, I use a Kraken fisheye wet lens (KRL-02).
The majority of my work is self-initiated. It is focused in capturing images of unique flora and fauna I find underwater. I love to play around with lighting to see how I can change the mood of an image and the way an animal is portrayed by making the picture darker or lighter.
